“Everything is being limited,” the price of oil reaches 1.50 euros again, react citizens

The cost of gasoline has seen another increase, with the Ministry of Industry, Entrepreneurship, and Trade setting the retail price at 1.50 euro cents per liter today. This marks a notable change from the rate recorded on May 25, when the gasoline price stood at 1.36 euro cents per liter. The escalation in fuel costs has prompted commentary regarding its impact on household finances.

Atdhe Hykolli, former chairman of the BSPK, addressed the situation, stating that the continuous rise in gasoline prices places an additional strain on the budgets of citizens. According to Hykolli, such increases negatively affect the mobility of the general populace. Hykolli appealed to the Government of Kosovo and relevant social partners to address the volatile pricing situation with urgency.

He emphasized that the current trajectory of fuel costs requires immediate governmental intervention to mitigate the economic pressure being placed on the population. The sustained increase in the price of energy commodities remains a key concern for economic stability. While the Ministry set the new rate today, the disparity between the current cost and the previous week’s rate has drawn attention to the affordability challenge facing daily consumers.

Experts suggest that sustained high fuel prices can ripple through the entire economy, affecting transportation costs for goods and services, and ultimately impacting the cost of living for all citizens.
