The Pediatrics Clinic at the University Clinical Center of Kosovo (UCKC) has replaced several damaged hospital beds. According to reports from UCKC, a total of seven beds have been substituted with new units, with an additional replacement anticipated on the current day. The initiative to upgrade the facilities followed a public complaint lodged by a mother, Aulona Memeti.
Ms. Memeti shared photographs on social media that documented the poor state of the Gastroenterology Department within the pediatrics clinic. The images highlighted several sanitation concerns, including a bed stained with blood and unclean restroom facilities, indicating a lack of basic hygiene standards.
Furthermore, Ms. Memeti reported experiencing pressure from several nursing staff members after she publicized her findings regarding the clinic’s conditions. The director of the facility has not been quoted in relation to the replacement efforts.
The replacement of the beds aims to improve the patient care environment within the pediatrics department. The actions taken suggest a response to public scrutiny regarding the maintenance and hygiene standards of the specialized care units at the University Clinical Center of Kosovo.
