Ukraine hits 105 Russian ships in just eight days

Ukrainian forces have reportedly struck a substantial number of Russian vessels within the Sea of Azov over the preceding eight days as part of an intensified effort to isolate Crimea from mainland Russia. According to reports from the General Staff of Ukraine and the Commander of the Ukrainian Unmanned Systems Forces (USF), Major Robert “Magyar” Brovdi, Ukrainian forces claimed responsibility for striking 10 vessels in a single night. These targeted ships included ferries and tanker vessels that Russia utilizes for transporting oil and petroleum products, often in efforts to bypass international sanctions.

The Institute for the Study of War (ISW), based in the United States, noted that Ukrainian forces began increasing the intensity of their attacks on vessels in the Sea of Azov starting last Monday. This escalation, according to the ISW, is part of a broader strategic effort aimed at preventing Russia from adapting to the ongoing maritime threats. These sustained operations highlight a concerted campaign by Ukrainian forces to disrupt Russian logistical capabilities in the region.

The consistent targeting of various types of vessels underscores the scope of the military action. The ongoing strikes by Ukrainian forces are intended to severely restrict the movement and operational capacity of Russian assets in the Sea of Azov, thereby complicating Russia’s ability to maintain supply lines to occupied territories.
