LSDM: Mickoski manipulates statistics regarding economic growth

LSDM has challenged Prime Minister Christian Mickoski’s methodology when presenting economic comparisons involving different time frames. The party contends that Mickoski draws flawed conclusions by comparing economic conditions from the peak of global inflation in October 2022—a period marked by widespread energy turmoil, war, and rising food costs—with projections for October 2026. LSDM argues that such comparisons are misleading, asserting that they do not accurately reflect the overall economic reality.

They criticize the method of dividing salaries and pensions by individual months and manipulating percentage figures, suggesting that these calculations can obscure the actual financial strain on citizens. The critique focuses on the gap between abstract statistical measurements and daily living costs. LSDM states that citizens do not experience relative gains, such as living “70% faster,” but rather manage their finances based on remaining income after essential expenditures like rent, utility bills, and consumer goods.

To illustrate this point, the party cited current costs, noting that a liter of gasoline costs 100 denars and a kilogram of eggs costs 40 denars, pointing to ongoing increases in food prices within stores. In summary, LSDM maintains that Mickoski’s analysis, particularly when selecting specific periods or omitting absolute financial amounts, presents an incomplete picture. The party advocates for a more comprehensive view of the economy across multiple months, rather than relying on selective comparisons between past crises and future projections.
