OBRM-PDUKM: The case of the tragedy at the modular hospital in Tetovë should not remain in a drawer

The Macedonian ruling party, OBRM-PDUKM, has issued a statement regarding the investigation into the 19 modular hospitals. The party noted that five years after the subject’s formation, the Public Prosecution for the Prosecution of Organized Crime and Corruption, led by Islam Abazi, issued a decision to close the case. This decision concluded that there was no basis for suspicion of abuse of position or official authorizations related to the facilities.

OBRM-PDUKM further detailed the procedural context surrounding the hospitals. According to the party’s statement, rather than focusing on improving hospital standards, the Ministry of Transport and Communications, through a government proposal, amended the Building Law. This amendment introduced expedited procedures aimed at classifying such facilities as urban equipment.

Under this new framework, the Ministry of Health was designated to grant approval for the placement and licensing of these specific types of structures. The party highlighted that Venko Filipçe was the minister responsible for the ministry overseeing these changes. The statement indicates that the procedural changes facilitated the establishment and licensing of the modular hospital units.

This information was presented by OBRM-PDUKM to contextualize the legal and administrative steps taken concerning the 19 modular facilities.
