Union to Host May Day Protest in Skopje
Skopje – A protest organized by the Union of Macedonian Trade Unions will take place tomorrow, May 1st, 2026, commencing at 11:00 AM. The event, marking International Workers’ Day, will begin in front of the LSM building on Mirce Acev Street No. 4.
The planned route for the demonstration will proceed along Mirce Acev Street, continuing along “Philip 2” Street, then along 11th October Street, proceeding straight along Dimitrie Chupovski Street, followed by a turn along Vasil Glavinov Street and continuing straight along VMRO Boulevard. The procession will then turn along Ilinden Boulevard until reaching the Government building. The Traffic Safety Unit will implement a special traffic regime on these street routes within the city of Skopje.
The Ministry of Interior has issued a statement requesting that all citizens adhere to instructions provided by police officers during the event. Effective communication regarding the traffic restrictions will be crucial. “The Ministry of Interior appeals to citizens to respect the orders issued by police officers on the roads,” the statement concluded.
