Lumir Abdixhiku, leader of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), stated that discussions with Albin Kurti, leader of the Self-Determination Movement (LVV), focused on achieving institutional stability and the mutual goal of avoiding new elections. Following the meeting, Abdixhiku confirmed that the two parties had agreed to continue dialogue in the coming days. “We discussed institutional stability and the necessary avoidance of elections.
At this stage, we agreed to continue the talks,” Abdixhiku stated. He clarified that the discussions centered on overarching principles rather than specific personnel appointments. “We talked about principles, and for the LDK, these principles require democratic balance in the country.
All parties must contribute to this balance. We have not managed to discuss specific names,” he added. Albin Kurti also characterized the meeting as a positive development, noting that it was not feasible to address every agenda item in a single session.
“It was impossible to discuss all the topics in this meeting, but it was a good step to continue the talks,” Kurti remarked. He highlighted the immediate timelines, mentioning the 30-day period for constituting the Assembly and 60 days for electing the president. Kurti stressed the importance of ongoing dialogue to prevent unilateral actions, stating that this provided a sense of hope.
Abdixhiku reiterated that despite not having reached a consensus on core principles, the dialogue between the parties would persist. “We have not yet reached a consensus on the principles, but we are talking,” the LDK leader concluded.
