Generative AI Adoption Surges in Europe, Notably in Albania and Kosovo

The utilization of generative artificial intelligence is experiencing varied adoption rates across Europe, with several countries demonstrating significant engagement. Recent data from the European Labour Force Survey, released at the end of April, indicates that roughly 12% of employees within the European Union currently employ generative AI in their professional roles. However, several nations outside the EU are demonstrating particularly strong uptake.

Notably, Albania and Kosovo are emerging as among the most active countries in the region – and globally – in adopting this technology. According to the survey, Kosovo ranks sixth across Europe, with an impressive 20% of its workforce utilizing generative AI. Close behind is Luxembourg, at 25%, followed by Switzerland and Sweden, both at 24% and 21% respectively.

Belgium and Denmark also report 20% adoption rates. Albania’s adoption rate places it at eleventh position within the surveyed European countries. The survey highlights a growing trend of AI integration across various industries, with these Eastern European nations leading the way in embracing this technological advancement.

Further analysis is expected to explore the specific applications of generative AI within these rapidly adopting economies.
