Kurti Announces LDK Proposal for Parliament Speaker Role
Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti revealed details of a discussion with LDK leader Lumir Abdixhiku regarding the role of speaker in the Kosovar Parliament. Following a meeting, Kurti stated that the LDK proposed a change in the leadership of the parliamentary speaker position. According to Kurti’s account, the LDK suggested either a reshuffle within the speaker role or the appointment of a member from the LDK, specifically Albulena Haxhiu, to the position.
Haxhiu would then serve as Deputy Speaker of the Parliament, representing the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK). “We proposed that the position of Speaker of the Parliament undergo a reshuffle. Or the Deputy Leader of the LDK or someone else to be Speaker of the Kosovar Parliament.
Albulena Haxhiu would become Deputy Speaker of the Parliament, where currently the Democratic League of Kosovo is,” Kurti explained. Kurti emphasized that the LDK’s offer constituted the entirety of their proposal, stating, “We have nothing more to offer, and nothing was asked of us.” The discussion centered around the selection of the speaker within the parliament.
