Indictment Filed Against Appeals Judge Ristov Following Evidence of Bribery
The Organized Crime and Corruption Prosecution Office has announced the filing of an indictment against Appeals Judge Gjoko Ristov. The indictment stems from evidence discovered at his family residence, where authorities recovered €350,000 hidden within a wall. The legal action follows the testimony of lawyer Fehmi Stafa, who recently served a sentence of one year and three months for accepting a €50,000 bribe.
Stafa’s testimony indicated an alleged attempt to influence Judge Ristov’s decision regarding the release of Ljupço Pecov – Gjavollot. According to the prosecution, a comprehensive investigation revealed evidence suggesting that a lawyer sought a total of €100,000 from the judge. The Basic Office for the Prosecution of Organized Crime and Corruption gathered sufficient evidence to substantiate these suspicions.
The indictment details the allegations against Judge Ristov, centering on the potential abuse of his position. Further investigation is ongoing as part of this case. The involvement of the judge remains under scrutiny as authorities continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the discovered funds.
