Approximately 50,000 Applications for Voting Abroad Approved Ahead of Kosovo Election
Tirana, Kosovo – As the deadline approaches, approximately 50,000 applications for voting abroad have been approved by the Central Election Commission of Kosovo (KQZ-KS). The application period, initiated on May 6th and concluding on May 17th, has seen a significant surge in requests from citizens residing outside the country. According to data released by the KQZ-KS, a total of 59,415 applications were submitted during the registration process.
Of these, 49,493 have been approved, representing a substantial number of Kosovars seeking to participate in the upcoming election. A further 4,944 applications were rejected, while 4,957 remain under review by the commission. Germany and Switzerland have led the countries with the highest number of approved applications.
The process, managed through the online platform http://diapsora.kqz-ks.org, allows citizens of Kosovo to register to vote from overseas. Valmir Elezi, spokesperson for the KQZ-KS, noted the high volume of interest. “We are pleased with the engagement of Kosovo citizens abroad,” Elezi stated.
“The commission continues to process applications efficiently to ensure all eligible voters can exercise their right to vote.”
The deadline for submitting applications remains May 17th.
