Vetëvendosje Launches New Competitions Following AKP Capture, Re-Opens Government Processes
Kosovar Democratic League (LDK) Deputy Hykmete Bajrami has announced that Vetëvendosje has initiated a series of new competitions following the capture of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AKP). These include contests for the Radio and Television of Kosovo (RTK) and the Kosovo Police Management (KPMM). The move represents a restart of processes under the new government.
Bajrami expressed concerns regarding the timing and nature of these competitions, describing them as “the final effort to seize institutions before the elections.” She stated that Vetëvendosje has declared approximately 20 high-level leadership positions, viewing these as irregular competitions. The deputy questioned the credibility of the process, citing its announcement coinciding with parliamentary distribution and development by a resigning government. Bajrami specifically asked, “Are these competitions for professionals, or to give comfort to those in power before the elections?”
She emphasized that public institutions should be independent of political parties.
The initiative follows the capture of the AKP and signals a shift in the government’s approach to staffing key roles within the state. Bajrami’s comments highlight ongoing scrutiny of the government’s actions and their potential impact on the integrity of public institutions.
