Before Bayram, prices increase, with one kilogram of almonds costing 10 euros.

Ahead of the Bajram celebration, we’re observing a surge in costs. The price of almonds has dramatically increased, with a single kilogram now reaching 10 euros. Traders have consistently raised the cost of these almonds, a vital component in the customary baklava prepared for the holiday.

Observations in Pristina’s market reveal that a kilogram of almonds is currently available for up to 10 euros. Citizens are expressing significant concern regarding this escalation of basic product prices. The situation is deemed unsustainable by many.

Citizen Kadri Krasniqi voiced his worries, stating that prices are unlikely to return to previous levels. He highlighted the difficulties faced by individuals lacking income, particularly those without pensions or other financial support. “Food prices have risen considerably, and unfortunately, some people are simply unable to cope,” Krasniqi explained.

“They have no income, no pension, and limited resources, making survival a serious challenge.” The rising prices of almonds are exacerbating these existing economic hardships.
