Behrami: Kurti attempted to usurp the Presidency, that space belongs only to the president.

Behrami Accuses Kurti of Attempting to Overstep Presidential Authority

Prishtina, Kosovo – Deputy of the Democratic Party of Kosovo, Artan Behrami, has criticized Prime Minister Albin Kurti’s recent conference held at the Presidency of Kosovo alongside presidential candidate Feride Rushiti. Behrami addressed the event, asserting that the premises of the presidency are exclusively designated for the office of the president of the country. Speaking to Ekonomia Online, Behrami accused Kurti of exhibiting authoritarian tendencies and attempting to exceed established institutional boundaries.

He argued that the Prime Minister’s actions resemble practices seen in nations like North Korea and China, characterized by a lack of opposition, criticism, and adherence to established rules and laws. “Mr. Kurti has transformed the Parliament of the Republic of Kosovo into a popular assembly,” Behrami stated, “without opposition, without criticism, without rules, without laws.” The comments center on the use of the presidency building for a political event, raising concerns about the separation of powers within the Kosovan government.

The debate highlights ongoing tensions regarding the role and authority of the presidency.
