Berlusconi’s “Bunga Bunga” holiday villa for sale for 350 million euros

Former Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Hamad bin Jassim has acquired a significant property in Sardinia, a villa previously owned by Italian politician Silvio Berlusconi. According to reports from La Repubblica, the sale price for the residence was 350 million euros. The property, named “Certosa,” was widely recognized as a private summer retreat for Berlusconi.

The villa had previously been associated with high-profile social gatherings, notably the controversial “bunga bunga” parties, which generated significant political and judicial scrutiny within Italy. While Berlusconi faced accusations, including charges related to prostitution with minors, he was subsequently acquitted on charges of corruption and abuse of office. Although the buyer is registered in Luxembourg, Italian media outlets have connected him to the Al Thani family, which has governed Qatar for over a century and a half.

The sale of the estate is anticipated to assist in improving the financial standing of Berlusconi’s heirs. These heirs have been managing the obligations stipulated in his will since 2023. La Repubblica noted that a substantial portion of the proceeds, estimated at around 100 million euros, is slated for Berlusconi’s brother, Paolo Berlusconi, and his former partner.
