Independent Media Commission Appoints New Leadership

The Independent Media Commission (IMC) has announced new leadership following its inaugural meeting of 2026, featuring members appointed by the Kosovo Parliament. The meeting, held on May 5, 2026, marked the fully constituted operation of the institution. In accordance with the Law on the IMC, the commission elected Besnik Berisha as chair and Drita Morina as vice-chair.

Both individuals will serve two-year mandates for the role. Berisha, who is entering his second term with the IMC, possesses significant experience in media regulation. The meeting commenced with opening remarks from Suada Džogović, the commission’s oldest member, alongside Hysni Mustafa, Luljeta Aliu, and Serpin Emruši.

The newly elected leadership will oversee the IMC’s operations, focusing on ensuring media compliance and upholding journalistic standards within Kosovo. The appointment reflects the Parliament’s commitment to strengthening the independence and accountability of the IMC. The commission’s work is crucial to maintaining a robust and transparent media landscape.
