BMW intends to continue using V8 and six-cylinder engines.

BMW has affirmed that its established six-cylinder in-line engines and V8 engines will continue to be integral components of its vehicle range. However, the company recognizes the necessity for significant modifications to these engines to satisfy the forthcoming Euro 7 emission regulations. These engines represent a crucial element of the brand’s heritage, especially within its high-performance models.

Specifically, the M5, X5 M, X6 M, X7 M60i, and M8 (featuring the V8), alongside the M240i and M3 CS (utilizing the six-cylinder engine), rely heavily on these powertrain options. Due to the increasingly stringent Euro 7 standards, bmw has implemented several technical adjustments. The maximum power output of the V8 engine within the M5 has been decreased from roughly 430 kW to 400 kW.

To counteract this reduction, bmw has strategically increased the power delivered by the electric hybrid system. This approach ensures that the overall performance characteristics of these vehicles are maintained. bmw underscores its commitment to… continuing with these powerful engines.
