Cakolli: The LVV could reach 52 mandates if the same voting trend continues by mail

Eugen Cakolli, a representative from the non-governmental coalition “Democracy in Action,” assessed that the Vetëvendosje Movement (LVV) could potentially secure up to 52 seats in Parliament if the current trajectory of postal vote results persists through the completion of the counting process. According to preliminary figures from the July 7 elections, the LVV had initially garnered 48 mandates. However, subsequent counting of votes from diplomatic missions and a partial tally of postal votes elevated the party’s count to 50 mandates.

During this period, both PDK and LDK were reported to have each lost one mandate. As of the reporting, 37 postal votes remain uncounted, representing the final variable in the election outcome. The Central Election Commission has received an estimated 86,000 ballot envelopes, with Cakolli suggesting that the total number of valid votes is anticipated to approach 82,500.

The ongoing tabulation process suggests continued shifts in the political landscape. Cakolli’s assessment highlights that the final distribution of mandates remains contingent upon the results from these remaining postal ballots. The analysis underscores the importance of the final vote count in determining the ultimate strength of the LVV and the broader parliamentary balance.
