Circulation in industry increased by 5.49 percent while workers were reduced

According to the Kosovo Agency of Statistics (ASK), the turnover within Kosovo’s overall industry sector increased by 5.49 percent in April 2026 when compared to the same period last year. Data released via the Short-Term Industry Statistics indicates varied performance across key sub-sectors. The most significant growth was observed in the extractive sector, encompassing mining and quarries, which recorded a substantial turnover increase of 29.96 percent.

Other sectors also contributed positively to the overall economic activity. The supply of electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning saw a growth rate of 7.08 percent, while the water and waste management segment increased by 5.77 percent. The manufacturing industry also demonstrated expansion, reporting a turnover increase of 4.21 percent.

Despite the growth in revenue, the labor component showed a slight contraction. The number of employees within the industry recorded a minor decrease of 0.13 percent compared to April 2025 figures. However, ASK reported that the fund designated for wages and benefits in the industrial sector did increased, suggesting adjustments in financial provisions across the sector.

These figures provide a detailed snapshot of the operational shifts within Kosovo’s productive economy for the month of April.
