Infectious clinics are currently experiencing reports of a shortage concerning the tetanus vaccine. Amid these concerns, some citizens have approached Alsat seeking information. When questioned regarding the vaccine supply, the ministry issued a statement addressing only the immunization levels for children, but did not specifically address the reported shortage for adults.
The ministry stated, “The Ministry of Health informs that sufficient quantities have been secured for the regular immunization of children against Tetanus, for which the Ministry is responsible through the immunization program. Public health institutions, in accordance with their legal responsibilities, independently plan the needs and implement the appropriate procedures for the public procurement of Tetanus vaccines.”
Tetanus is a serious bacterial infection that affects the nervous system. It is commonly associated with wounds, particularly those contaminated with soil or manure.
While the ministry confirmed adequate supplies for the routine childhood immunization program, the lack of a direct response regarding the availability of the vaccine for adult populations has prompted further inquiry from citizens. The statement clarifies that while the ministry manages the central childhood immunization schedule, individual public health institutions are responsible for independently managing the procurement and supply of the vaccine for other age groups.
