Creepy surprise: French driver finds a 1.5-meter ball in his car’s engine

A driver in the vicinity of Toulouse, southern France, discovered what appeared to be a royal boa coiled under the hood of his car. The reptile, measured at approximately 1.5 meters, was found while the driver was in the process of changing the battery of a vehicle that had been stationary for about a month. According to the Haute-Garonne fire brigade, the discovery prompted an intervention involving five firefighters.

Two of the team members were specialized personnel from the RAN unit, dedicated to animal rescue. The team successfully and carefully transferred the boa from the engine compartment into a secure glass container. The fire brigade subsequently shared details of the operation on social media platforms in an effort to determine the animal’s origin.

Experts noted that the species, which can grow to exceed 3 meters in length, is native to South America, with natural habitats spanning from Colombia to Argentina. The incident highlights the unexpected wildlife encounters that can occur, particularly when vehicles remain unused for extended periods. The prompt action by the fire brigade ensured the safe handling and containment of the wild animal.

The discovery has prompted further inquiry regarding how the boa arrived at the location near the driver’s residence.
