Deception with milk product content, AUV fines several producers and importers

Official veterinarians from the Agency for Food and Veterinary recently conducted comprehensive inspections targeting milk, dairy items, and processed meat goods. The objective of these inspections was to verify that the actual quality of the various products matched the data declared on their respective labels. Preliminary laboratory analyses revealed notable discrepancies in the market.

Specifically, out of 45 samples of milk and dairy products analyzed, ten operators were found to have goods that did not comply with established agricultural quality regulations. The analyses indicated that the fat content in these items was lower than the percentage declared on the packaging, suggesting potential misrepresentation of the product’s composition. The regulatory body took immediate action following these findings.

In one documented instance, testing of 22 kilograms of cottage cheese revealed that the product contained only 1% fat, significantly deviating from stated standards. As a result of this non-compliance, the responsible operator was issued a fine amounting to 3,500 euros. These inspections underscore the agency’s commitment to maintaining consumer safety and ensuring transparency within the food supply chain.

The continuous monitoring of both liquid milk goods and finished products aims to guarantee that consumers receive items accurately represented by their labeling. The findings suggest ongoing vigilance is required to ensure all sold food items meet required quality standards.
