Over 160 healthcare professionals, including doctors, midwives, and medical staff from across Macedonia, are scheduled to undergo specialized training focused on combating corruption within the public healthcare sector. The primary objective of this initiative is to enhance participants’ knowledge and practical skills in identifying, preventing, and reporting instances of corruption. By improving these capacities, the training aims to contribute directly to establishing a more equitable and just healthcare system for all citizens.
This educational activity is part of a broader project titled “A Stronger System for a Fairer Protection: Reducing Corruption in Healthcare.” The program is being implemented by the Association for Women’s Emancipation, Solidarity, and Equality (ESE). According to project organizers, addressing corruption must start at its most prevalent points of occurrence—namely, within healthcare institutions. The comprehensive training modules are designed to equip medical staff with the tools necessary to navigate ethical challenges within their daily practices.
By focusing on systemic improvements alongside individual accountability, the initiative seeks to strengthen governance and transparency across Macedonian healthcare facilities. The involvement of a diverse group of medical personnel underscores the commitment to a multi-sectoral approach to tackling corruption, ensuring that the principles of integrity are integrated into the core operations of the healthcare system.
