According to the Ministry of Interior, routine traffic enforcement operations conducted across all regional sectors resulted in the issuance of 1,426 fines over the past weekend. These enforcement activities targeted various infractions related to motor vehicle operation, emphasizing public safety across major thoroughfares. Of the total citations issued, the most frequent violation recorded was speeding, accounting for 455 of the fines.
Furthermore, 64 individuals were specifically stopped for careless driving. A detailed breakdown of the infractions recorded among those stopped reveals several serious violations. Among these, eleven individuals were cited for driving under the influence of alcohol, and twenty-seven were penalized for operating a vehicle without the requisite license.
Additionally, enforcement officers recorded instances of dangerous speed violations, including one case of exceeding the limit within a built-up area and another outside such an area, alongside one case involving a previously issued driving suspension. These comprehensive controls highlight the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to improve road safety. In addition to issuing fines, the operations also involved the monitoring of vehicle compliance, with records indicating that 22 vehicles were subject to inspection during the reporting period.
