Economist Warns of Severe Energy Crisis, Potential Oil Price Surge

Prishtina – Economist Kujtim Dobruna has cautioned about a “dramatic energy crisis” facing the nation, citing dwindling global reserves and potential disruptions to key industries. In a recent post, Dobruna highlighted the precarious situation, stating that worldwide oil reserves are approaching a critical point and could potentially be exhausted by the end of May. Dobruna predicts a significant rise in oil prices, forecasting a possible increase to $200 per barrel.

He further indicated that this price escalation, following approximately four weeks, could lead to a destabilizing situation. Specifically, Dobruna outlined potential consequences for Kosovo, including the closure of entire industries, significant damage to transportation and logistics sectors, and potential disruptions to travel and goods production. “I don’t want to spread fear or panic,” Dobruna stated in his post.

The economist’s assessment underscores the vulnerability of Kosovo’s economy to fluctuations in global energy markets. The situation remains under close observation as experts assess the potential for a sharp increase in oil prices and its impact.
