Spain Sees Record Employment Levels as Unemployment Drops Below 2.4 Million
Madrid, Spain – Employment figures in Spain have reached a significant milestone, with the country exceeding 22 million workers for the first time, according to official data released today by RTVE. The latest figures indicate a substantial decrease in unemployment, bringing the total number of registered unemployed individuals below 2.4 million. The data reveals a decline of 62,668 people on the unemployment register between March and April, marking the first time unemployment has fallen below this threshold since June 2008.
This represents a notable shift in the Spanish labor market. Alongside the drop in unemployment, social security affiliation reached a record monthly average of 22.1 million workers. This increase was driven by the addition of 223,685 jobs during the month.
“We have achieved a record figure after 63 consecutive months of job growth,” stated Minister of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration, El. The sustained growth highlights a positive trend in Spain’s economic recovery. The figures demonstrate a significant level of employment and a continued reduction in the number of individuals without work, bringing the unemployment level down to a critical point.
