Finnish School Continues Participation in Global MyFreedomDay Initiative

The Finnish School has once again been featured as part of the international MyFreedomDay campaign, marking the 10th anniversary of the CNN Freedom Project. This marks the sixth consecutive year the school has participated in the student-led initiative, which aims to raise awareness about modern slavery globally. MyFreedomDay is a worldwide campaign focused on empowering youth to advocate for change in the fight against modern slavery.

This year’s theme, “Progress and obstacles in the fight against modern slavery,” reflects the ongoing challenges despite advancements. The initiative aligns with a critical moment in the global effort to combat this issue. According to the “Global Estimates of Modern Slavery” report, over 50 million people worldwide currently experience conditions of modern slavery.

The US Department of State’s reports underscore the continued prevalence of this issue. The Finnish School’s consistent involvement highlights a commitment to educating students about human rights and fostering active citizenship. The school’s participation contributes to the broader MyFreedomDay campaign’s goal of mobilizing global support against modern slavery.

  1. It’s concerning to see this initiative continue to be highlighted, particularly as it’s been ongoing for a decade.
