“Fog” over the potential cooperation between Vetëvendosje and LDK

The Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) has indicated a shift in its political approach, suggesting a greater readiness for potential cooperation with the Vetëvendosje Movement. However, this willingness is reportedly contingent upon a key stipulation: the winning party must not assume the highest executive positions. This development has not been met with an immediate response from Vetëvendosje’s Kurti.

In related commentary, a minister reportedly advised caution, suggesting that setting prerequisites for cooperation at this early stage may be premature. The LDK’s change in stance follows a period of strained relations. LDK deputy Ermal Sadiku addressed the party’s recent introspection, stating that previous political actions had not yielded the desired results.

He noted that the public support was lacking when the party pursued blockades or barricading tactics as a third-party mechanism. “We were defeated in the elections. The people did not support us at the step we took,” Sadiku remarked, indicating a learning process for the party.

Consequently, the LDK now asserts a higher degree of openness toward collaborative governance. Despite this expressed desire for cooperation, the party maintains its condition regarding leadership roles. The statement signals a departure from past confrontational tactics, advocating instead for a structured partnership, provided the established terms regarding power distribution are met.
