Following two bankruptcies, this brand is attempting a “revival” – returning with an 800 horsepower car.

Spyker Attempts Third Revival Amidst Challenging Circumstances

It has been a century of fluctuating fortunes for the Dutch automotive brand, Spyker, marked by repeated collapses and ambitious attempts at revival. Founded in 1881, the original Spyker company declared bankruptcy one hundred years ago, and subsequent iterations faced similar fates. The company’s return in 1999 proved short-lived, followed by further failures in 2014 and again in 2021.

Now, Victor Muller, CEO and founder, is pursuing a third attempt to restore the brand’s prominence, acknowledging the difficult economic landscape. The current effort centers around the C8 Preliator, a high-performance car initially unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show a decade ago. Details surrounding the Preliator’s return are still emerging.

While speculation suggests a potential evolution of the 2016 model, or a completely new development, it is confirmed that the vehicle will feature a dedicated engine. Muller’s strategy aims to capitalize on renewed interest in exotic automotive designs. The success of this latest endeavor remains uncertain, but the company’s commitment to the Spyker legacy continues.

  1. This audacious return feels like a high-stakes gamble for a company with such a turbulent history.
