From a dream to become the first programmer in Kosovo, leading the IT sector – it’s the story of Vjollca Cavolli.

Vjollca Çavolli, the executive director of STIKK, recently shared her experiences within the information technology sector during an episode of “The Journey” podcast with Jehona Hulaj on Telegrafi. She detailed her path and the evolution of the IT industry in Kosovo. The conversation also centered on the obstacles women encounter in this field.

Çavolli’s fascination with technology started in the late 1970s, coinciding with the establishment of Kosovo’s initial IT department. “I always envisioned myself as the first female programmer in Kosovo,” she explained. Despite historical setbacks that disrupted her initial aspirations, her dedication remained steadfast.

“If I wasn’t able to be the first programmer in Kosovo, I wanted to ensure others could become programmers,” Çavolli stated. Throughout her career, she highlighted the difficulties she faced. She emphasized the importance of supporting future generations of women in technology, particularly within the context of Kosovo.

Her goal was to pave the way for others to pursue this career path.
