LDK candidate for deputy, Arben Gashi, expressed support for initiatives aimed at assisting the population of Kosovo. However, he voiced concerns regarding the long-term economic impact of such aid, suggesting that the funds may not remain within the country. Speaking on T7’s “Pressing,” Gashi highlighted the reliance of Kosovo on imports, arguing that significant sums of money can dissipate rapidly.
He specifically questioned the economic efficacy of the 200 million euros distributed by Albin Kurti shortly before the elections. According to Gashi, the primary effect of the distributed funds is consumption, rather than stimulating sustainable local growth. He pointed out that a significant portion of the spending is directed toward consumable goods, many of which are imported, particularly from Serbia.
Gashi contended that this spending pattern effectively transfers capital out of Kosovo. He asserted that within a short timeframe, the money provided through such aid packages is quickly spent on imports, thereby sending the funds to neighboring countries. This perspective suggests that while the intention of the aid is to help the people, the current economic structure and spending habits risk undermining the local economy.
