Gucati criticizes the Government of the Council: No request from veterans has been realized

Hysni Gucati, Chairman of the UÇK War Veterans Organization (OVL-UÇK), has criticized the current Council of Ministers Government for perceived failures in cooperation and for not adequately addressing the needs of war veterans. Gucati’s statements followed the signing of a cooperation memorandum between the Kosovo Chamber of Hotel and Tourism (OHTK) and OVL-UÇK. Speaking on the matter, Gucati noted that his organization had not engaged in recent meetings or discussions with the sitting government.

A primary concern highlighted was the healthcare provision for veterans. He reported that a significant number of veterans are currently affected by cancer, with 24 individuals receiving treatment in Turkey. Furthermore, Gucati indicated that other veterans are receiving care in various European locations, alongside treatment provided within Kosovo.

According to Gucati, Kosovo’s institutional framework carries a legal responsibility to provide care for populations that have experienced wartime service, including veterans. The criticism directed at the government centers on the perceived gap between this legal obligation and the current reality of veteran support. The comments by gucati underscore ongoing tensions regarding the support structures available to Kosovo’s veteran community.

His critique suggests that despite institutional agreements, the government’s actions have not met the specific medical and welfare demands of these service members. The discussion centers on whether the current administrative structure is fulfilling its mandate to care for those who served in conflict.
