Acting President Haxhiu Urges Political Parties to Avoid Extraordinary Elections

Acting President Albulena Haxhiu has affirmed that Kosovo should not proceed to extraordinary elections, emphasizing the need for intensified negotiations between political parties to secure an agreement on the election of a president. Reports indicate this statement was made by KosovaPress. Haxhiu stated her willingness to consensually relinquish the position of Speaker of the Kosovo Assembly, citing it as a necessary step toward resolving the current impasse.

She argued that holding extraordinary elections would “not” be beneficial for the country. The acting president highlighted the substantial work remaining, including the implementation of numerous reforms and a significant legislative agenda. This agenda encompasses approximately 170 draft laws, each carrying considerable importance.

Haxhiu stressed the urgency of finding a solution, asserting that the country faces considerable challenges beyond the immediate presidential selection. She reiterated her commitment to facilitating a constructive dialogue aimed at preventing the disruption caused by extraordinary elections. The focus remains on achieving a stable and functional government through political cooperation.
