Kosovo to Open Consular Mission in Texas

Acting President Albulena Haxhiu signed a decree today authorizing the establishment of a Consular Mission of the Republic of Kosovo in Texas, the Presidency announced. The move represents a significant development in Kosovo’s relationship with its diaspora community in the United States. Haxhiu characterized the decision as “an important step” and “a tribute to the diaspora in America.” She emphasized the longstanding contributions of Kosovars living in the United States, noting their historical support through work, assistance, and advocacy, particularly during Kosovo’s transition to statehood.

“With this mission, Kosovo becomes closer to its citizens and more proximate,” Haxhiu stated. “In every chapter of our journey, from resistance to state-building, the diaspora has played a key role.”

The Consular Mission will primarily serve Kosovars residing in Texas and surrounding areas, aiming to provide essential services and strengthen ties between the region and the Republic of Kosovo. The initiative underscores the continued importance of the Kosovar diaspora within the country’s development and international relations.

The decree was signed by Haxhiu, marking a formal step in expanding Kosovo’s diplomatic presence.
