Kosovo Mathematics Team Returns, Receives Recognition
Pristina, Kosovo – The Acting President of Kosovo, Albulena Haxhiu, met with the Kosovo mathematics team today upon their return from the European Mathematics Olympiad (EMO) 2026. The team, representing Kosovo with distinction, was led by Prof. Associate Dr.
Valdete Rexhebeqaj-Hamiti, Chair of the Kosovo Mathematics Society. The delegation included students Ajan Hajrullahu, Lyron Celina, Vesa Xhymshiti, Ari Juniku, Shpendi Deva, and Lekë Nikçi. The team participated in the prestigious international competition, showcasing Kosovo’s talent in mathematics.
Ajan Hajrullahu secured a bronze medal, while Lyron Celina and Vesa Xhymshiti were awarded honorable mentions. Acting President Haxhiu congratulated the students on their achievements and for the opportunity to represent Kosovo on an international stage. “Participation in competitions at this level is a success in itself,” Haxhiu stated.
“When this is supplemented by strong performance, it highlights the dedication and potential within our country’s students.” The event underscores the growing prominence of mathematics education and student achievement within Kosovo. The team’s success contributes to the ongoing efforts to foster scientific and academic excellence within the nation.
