Heatwave warning in France, Italy, and Spain—temperatures predicted to reach up to 40 degrees Celsius

Red alerts have been issued across several regions in Western and Central Europe due to intensifying heatwave conditions, with forecasts predicting maximum temperatures to exceed 40 degrees Celsius. France is significantly affected, with more than half of its regions currently under the strictest weather warnings. Météo-France reported that maximum temperatures are predicted to reach 42 degrees Celsius in Bordeaux on Monday.

In response to the extreme heat, hundreds of schools across France have been ordered to close. Authorities in several other nations have also issued similar red alerts. These include Germany, Italy, Switzerland, and Luxembourg.

The extreme weather has resulted in tragic incidents. In the southern French city of Carpentras, two young children, aged two and four, were discovered deceased in their family car, an incident linked to the prevailing heatwave conditions. The warnings underscore the severity of the anticipated heat, requiring heightened public awareness and preventative measures across the affected areas.

Residents are advised to monitor local advisories regarding the rising temperatures and extreme heat warnings across France and neighboring European countries.
