A comprehensive biography, “Cosmic Music” by Andy Beta, is finally being released after nineteen years of her death and over fifty years since the release of her seminal albums.

This publication coincides with the opening of a significant exhibition dedicated to her artistry in Los Angeles, at the Hammer Museum, titled “Monument Eternal.” The exhibition has garnered attention from prominent figures like Doja Cat and David Byrne, who are now recognizing her pioneering experimental sound. Notably, there’s a growing appreciation for her work, evidenced by a surge in interest among cosmic harpists at jazz festivals. “It seemed such a long time that her contributions had been overlooked,” notes her grandson, Steven Ellison, also known as Flying Lotus, a celebrated psychedelic producer who has collaborated with Kendrick Lamar and Sn.
