Honda Prelude is now outselling Subaru BRZ

Honda Prelude Sales Surge, Outperforming Subaru BRZ

Honda is seeing strong demand for its newly released Prelude coupe, with sales exceeding initial expectations. As of April, Honda has sold 357 Preludes, bringing the total year-to-date sales to 1,152 units. The automaker projects sales of between 4,000 and 5,000 Prelude coupes by 2026, a target they appear on track to meet.

Despite a recent sales increase of 14.5 percent in April – adding 283 coupes to its total – Subaru’s BRZ is experiencing slower sales. To date, Subaru has sold 1,086 BRZs, representing a 4.2 percent decrease compared to the same period last year. The Prelude’s success appears to be driven by its appeal as a hybrid coupe, despite lacking a traditional manual transmission.

This configuration has led some consumers to choose the Honda over the Subaru BRZ. The competition between the two sports cars remains active, with Honda steadily increasing its Prelude sales and Subaru working to bolster the BRZ’s performance. Both the honda prelude and the subaru are vying for a segment of the sports car market.
