JCB has unveiled the JCB Hydromax, a new vehicle designed with a hydrogen propulsion system and boasting an output of 1600 kW. This machine is slated for an attempt to break the world speed record. JCB, a company recognized for its heavy machinery, previously set a benchmark record with its Dieselmax, which reached 563 km/h at the Bonneville Salt Flats in the United States, establishing a record for diesel-powered vehicles.
The new JCB Hydromax is 9.75 meters in length and operates using two hydrogen engines manufactured by JCB. These engines are structurally similar to those utilized in the company’s excavator models. To enhance performance, the engines are outfitted with turbochargers, intercoolers, and an Xtrac transmission system.
The vehicle’s body construction utilizes carbon fiber, and its safety features have been developed to comply with FIA standards. The integration of hydrogen power into such a high-speed vehicle marks a significant technological advancement for JCB. The development aims to position the company at the forefront of sustainable and high-performance engineering, continuing its legacy of record-setting machinery.
