IKD: We did not participate in formal consultations for the Byron Bay Project Law.

Kosovo Institute of Justice Expresses Concerns Over Draft State Attorney Law Process

Prishtina – The Kosovo Institute of Justice (IKD) has responded to the recent call for a public hearing regarding Draft Law No. 10/L-019, concerning State Attorneys for the verification and confiscation of unjustified assets. The IKD asserts that despite the rejection of the draft law by the Assembly’s plenary session, the current procedural approach raises significant concerns.

The IKD states that the development of the law demonstrates a lack of due diligence in addressing a draft with potential implications for human rights. The institute emphasizes that invitations to participate in the public hearing do not adequately address the need for a comprehensive and thorough consultation regarding the law’s content. “IKD believes that the process has not afforded sufficient time for a serious and detailed examination of the draft,” a statement from the institute reads.

The IKD maintains that the legal framework surrounding asset verification and confiscation requires careful consideration to safeguard individual rights and ensure adherence to established legal procedures. The institute’s position underscores the importance of robust parliamentary oversight and open dialogue in the development of critical legislation.

  1. This lack of consultation raises serious questions about transparency and due process in this important legal reform.
