Iran says talks continue with mediators to “prevent escalation”

Iran announced on Monday that diplomatic discussions are continuing with the involvement of mediators from Qatar, Pakistan, and Oman. According to Esmaeil Baghaei, spokesperson for the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, these ongoing talks aim to prevent further escalation of tensions between Iran and the United States. The statement comes amid heightened regional instability.

The United States conducted attacks on Iran for the second consecutive day. In response to the escalating confrontation, Tehran reportedly launched strikes targeting neighboring states, including Djibouti and Jordan. These actions occur against the backdrop of ongoing disputes concerning the strategic importance of the Strait of Hormuz.

Furthermore, Iran issued a formal warning, stating that it will no longer adhere to the memorandum of understanding previously signed with the United States if Washington fails to fulfill its commitments to bring an end to the conflict. The involvement of international mediators underscores the international effort to de-escalate the situation. Officials emphasized that the primary role of these mediators is to continue their efforts to prevent a broader military escalation.

The continued dialogue remains central to the diplomatic strategy employed by Iran in an effort to stabilize regional security amid ongoing military friction with the U.S.
