Kosovo Sees Improvements in Unemployment Driven by Technology Sector Growth

Kosovo has faced persistent challenges related to unemployment over many years. However, recent data indicates positive developments within the country’s economy, largely fueled by growth in the technology sector. A key factor driving this improvement is the expansion of the local technology industry.

Drilon Jaha, director and founder of a software company established in 2014, highlighted the transformative impact of technology. “In 2014, I opened with two friends a software company,” Jaha explained. “I was on the managerial side, they were programmers.

I mostly saw the joy of work with the development of AI, as it also opened a company with several American partners, and then it was bought by a large company in America, it now has its office here and has over 360 employees.”

Significant advancements are evident in exports of Information and Communication Technology services. According to reports, Kosovo’s ICT sector achieved €398.2 million in exports during 2025, representing a 14% increase compared to 2024. This growth demonstrates a shift in the Kosovan economy, offering potential for reduced unemployment and increased economic opportunity within the country.

The success of companies like Jaha’s underscores the importance of technological innovation in Kosovo’s future.
