Journalists and the media remain targets of attacks by discriminatory language from the Government.

Kosovo Journalists Association Addresses Mental Health Concerns Amidst Press Freedom Challenges

On May 3rd, marking World Press Freedom Day, the Association of Journalists of Kosovo (AGK) convened a panel discussion focused on “The Impact of the Profession on the Mental Health of Media Workers.” The event, held in Kosovo, brought together journalists, psychologists, and representatives of the AGK to examine critical issues facing the media landscape. Chairman Xhemajl Rexha highlighted ongoing challenges faced by journalists in Kosovo, including what he described as “the continuous campaign to delegitimize the work of journalists by the Government.” He emphasized the importance of a free press and called for the ruling government to refrain from actions that could impede journalistic operations. The AGK expressed concern regarding the current state of media freedom in Kosovo on the occasion of International Press Freedom Day.

The discussion centered on the pressures and stressors impacting journalists, acknowledging the demanding nature of their work. The Association of Journalists of Kosovo continues to advocate for the protection and support of journalists operating within Kosovo, recognizing the vital role they play in informing the public. The event underscored the need for continued dialogue and support for the well-being of those dedicated to reporting news.
