Kosovo citizens mostly trust the USA, NATO, the EU, and Turkey

A recent 2026 annual survey assessing perceptions of the European Union among the populace of Kosovo has revealed key insights into the future outlook for the nation. The data, collected as part of the WeBalkans program, indicates sustained public support for deeper integration with the EU. Specifically, 83% of surveyed citizens stated their support for the European integration of Kosovo, while another 85% expressed a positive view regarding the country’s path toward European alignment.

The survey also provided details on the timeline for potential EU membership. According to the results, approximately half of the citizens believe that Kosovo could achieve EU membership within the next five years. Conversely, 30% of the population does not anticipate this happening, and 26% identified a lack of political will within Kosovo as the primary impediment to integration.

Beyond EU aspirations, the survey addressed international relationships. When asked to identify the most reliable external partners, the surveyed citizens indicated that the United States, NATO, the European Union, and Turkey are the entities in whom the Kosovar populace places the highest degree of trust. These findings offer a comprehensive snapshot of the current mindset among Kosovo’s citizens regarding regional integration, geopolitical alliances, and the immediate future of the state.
