Kosovo Experiences 7.5% Increase in Consumer Prices in April

Kosovo saw a significant rise in consumer prices during April 2026, according to data released by the Kosovo Statistics Agency (ASK). The agency reported a 7.5% increase in the purchase of expensive items compared to the same month in the previous year. The overall average growth rate for consumer prices in April 2026 reached 7.5%, exceeding the 7.5% growth observed in April 2025.

Monthly inflation also rose to 1.1% during April 2026, as measured by the Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (HICP). ASK attributed the increase primarily to rising costs within key sectors. Specifically, transportation, accommodation, electricity, gas, and fuel contributed significantly to the elevated prices.

The transport sector saw a 16.1% increase, while accommodation, water, electricity, gas and other materials also experienced notable price hikes. These figures for Kosovo reflect a broader trend observed throughout the year, with a 7.5% increase in expensive items purchased during April. The data highlights ongoing economic pressures within the country.
