During a recent meeting of the Kosovo Prosecutorial Council, the annual report from the ‘ad hoc’ Supervisory Commission for the Strategic and Action Plan for Combating Corruption was presented, detailing regional performance across various prosecutorial bodies. The data highlighted varying levels of activity concerning corruption and economic crimes across different jurisdictions. Specifically, the Basic Prosecutor’s Office in Gjilan reported a reduction in its workload pertaining to criminal cases involving corruption and economic offenses throughout 2025.
Conversely, the Basic Prosecutor’s Office in Mitrovica recorded the lowest volume of resolutions for these specific types of cases. In other areas, the activity levels varied significantly. The Prizren Prosecutor’s Office noted an increase in the filing of indictments related to corruption charges.
Meanwhile, the Basic Prosecutor’s Office in Gjakova was cited for leading in the handling of economic crimes. Furthermore, the Basic Prosecutor’s Office in Peja reported filing the majority of criminal complaints while simultaneously suspending multiple investigations. Regarding organized crime, the Special Prosecutor’s Office was responsible for filing all criminal complaints and suspending investigations in that specialized area.
These reports underscore the diverse operational focus and workload management among the various local prosecutor offices across Kosovo.
