Kurti: Delays in EU integration increase geopolitical risks

Kosovo Prime Minister Kurti Urges Faster EU Integration Amid Geopolitical Concerns

Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti stressed the urgency of accelerating the European Union’s enlargement process, arguing that delays create vulnerabilities to external influences and heighten geopolitical risks. Kurti’s comments followed his participation in a panel discussion titled “Where Does Europe End – Vision and Pragmatism in Times of Geopolitical Turmoil.”

During the event, Kurti highlighted the need for unity, clarity, and decisive action from European progressive forces, particularly given rising global pressures. He emphasized that the Western Balkans, including Kosovo, should be viewed as an integral part of Europe, not a peripheral region.

“I was pleased to open and close the panel with a discussion on the theme ‘Where Does Europe End – Vision and Pragmatism in Times of Geopolitical Turmoil’,” Kurti stated. “At this discussion, I emphasized the importance of unity, clarity, and bold decision-making by European progressives at a moment when global pressures are increasing.”

Kurti’s remarks underscored a concern that prolonged integration delays increase susceptibility to external influences and exacerbate geopolitical instability within the region. The Prime Minister reiterated his commitment to a more rapid and determined approach to EU expansion.
