Kosovo Declares Day of Mourning for Academic Rexhep Qosja
Kosovo’s Prime Minister Albin Kurti paid his respects at the National Memorial on Thursday, honoring the life and work of academic Rexhep Qosja. He recorded his tributes in the Book of Remembrance, marking the day as a period of remembrance for the late figure. Tributes are scheduled to continue until 4:00 PM.
Rexhep Qosja, an Albanian writer and literary critic, died at the age of 90 on Thursday, according to family reports. His son, Valjet Rexhepi, confirmed the passing via a Facebook post, detailing that a private family burial took place on the same day. The family has requested no public farewell ceremony, aligning with Qosja’s wishes.
“With the deceased’s wish, no farewell ceremony will be organized by the family. The family will not participate in institutional organizations,” stated Rexhepi. April 24th has been designated a day of mourning in Kosovo in honor of his legacy.
