LDK demands the resignation of Çeku: The problem of cheating on the baccalaureate was warned about, but no measures were taken

LDK-elected deputy Jehona Lushaku has publicly criticized the Government and the Ministry of Education for perceived deficiencies in ensuring the integrity of the State Graduation Exam. Lushaku called for greater political accountability, specifically addressing the acting minister, Hajrulla Çeku. Speaking in her capacity as a member of the Education Commission within the Kosovo Parliament, Lushaku stated that she had previously submitted proposals aimed at amending the Law on the State Graduation Exam.

These amendments included detailed, concrete measures designed specifically to prevent academic misconduct and cheating during testing periods. According to Lushaku, her proposals called for the implementation of advanced monitoring systems and the integration of specialized electronic equipment within examination halls. She argued that such technology would render unauthorized communication and copying virtually impossible.

However, she reported that this comprehensive proposal was rejected by the Ministry. The opposition to the measures, she stated, came from Minister Çeku, who reportedly countered that the procurement process for such electronic equipment was unduly time-consuming. Lushaku noted that Çeku suggested that the problem of academic dishonesty could alternatively be addressed through the formal process of a public tender.

Her criticisms underscore ongoing legislative and administrative debates regarding the necessary safeguards required to maintain the credibility and fairness of the national graduation examination process.
