LSDM: The “Freedom House” report clearly demonstrates that with the OBRM-PDUKM, media freedom is declining.

The recent assessment by Freedom House designates North Macedonia as a “partially free country,” triggering a response from the opposition LSDM party. In 2021, during the leadership of LSDM, the nation achieved a significant milestone, standing as the foremost country within the Western Balkans and securing the second-best ranking across Europe in terms of democratic advancement. However, the current situation, under the governance of OBRM-PDUKM and Mickoski, has witnessed a concerning decline in the realm of human rights and media freedom.

This deterioration is particularly pronounced when compared to the circumstances in Serbia, where the parallel party, SNS, holds power. Despite this, OBRM-PDUKM is actively working to revitalize its standing and regain lost ground. North Macedonia has also faced a notable setback, dropping six positions in the 2025 Reporters Without Borders Index.

Previously ranked 36th, the country now occupies the 42nd place. This shift underscores the challenges to freedom and highlights the need for continued efforts to safeguard democratic principles and ensure a robust environment for journalistic expression.
